My new favorite vegetable is broccolini. It doesn’t taste as harsh as broccoli and I like the long stalk which gives it extra crunch. What is broccolini? It is a hybrid of broccoli and gai lan, a Chinese broccoli. It had a similar top but a longer stem. I find broccolini easier to consume and it is as healthy as regular broccoli.
Wash and dry about 10 broccoloni. I also like to trim the ends. Once they are ready to go, place them in a large baking sheet.
Toss in 1/2 Tbsp of olive oil and sprinkle with 1 tsp of coarse sea salt. This may be one of the easiest and healthiest side dishes to include in your meals.
Bake at 400º for 20 minutes. I like to see the top ends crisp up a bit.
Squeeze 1/2 small lemon over the broccolini and serve. This is a great, quick side-dish.
10 broccolini (washed and trimmed)
1/2 Tbsp olive oil
1 tsp sea salt
1. Toss the broccolini in olive oil and salt.
2. Bake flat in a 400º oven for 15-20 minutes.
3. Place on a serving dish and squeeze with lemon.
